William F. Watkins is a dedicated public servant and community leader who currently serves as the VP of Digital Strategy & Partnerships for the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts. With a profound commitment to empowering individuals and businesses, William has made a lasting impact on the communities he serves.

 

A champion of creating access to high growth and high demand opportunities, he pioneered innovative programs in Roxbury, focusing on coding and graphic design for adults. These initiatives gained recognition from industry giants such as Google, Verizon, Microsoft, and Comcast, underscoring his dedication to bridging the digital divide and creating pathways to success for his community. William also played a pivotal role in implementing the ACT WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certification system across the Career Centers of the Commonwealth's Executive Office of Labor & Workforce Development. His efforts have helped countless individuals attain the skills and certifications needed to thrive in today's competitive job market.

 

Earlier in his career, William managed constituent affairs in the Detroit office of Congressman John Conyers, and he is the recipient of the U.S. Department of Defense Distinguished Service Award for his exemplary civilian service. In a historic milestone, William was recently elected to the Select Board of the Town of Holbrook, becoming the first Black individual to serve in the town's 150-year history. This achievement underscores his trailblazing leadership and dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion at the local level.
