Dr. Stacy Reed-Barnes, PsyD is founder and executive director of Stacy’s Joy Inc. She serves on the Massachusetts Governor’s Council to Address Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and Human Trafficking and is an adjunct professor at Lesley University. Her work with ABCD involves bringing trauma-informed, survivor-centered education experience into spaces that serve survivors. “My goal is to increase awareness about human trafficking, domestic and sexual violence, substance use disorders, trauma, and the importance of meeting people with dignity rather than judgment, she explained.”
“I am deeply humbled and grateful to be named an ABCD Community Hero,“ said Dr. Reed-Barnes. “As a woman who has survived many of the challenges around which I now advocate, being recognized for using my journey is incredibly meaningful.”
“As a volunteer, those “aha” moments when trainees begin to understand trauma, human trafficking, addiction or survival differently are what stay with me,” Stacy said. “I would encourage everyone to use what they have to strengthen their community. Service connects us to one another.”
Stacy lives in Hyde Park with her husband, and treasures family time with her children and grandchildren. I Smile by Kirk Franklin is a playlist favorite. “It reminds me that even through difficult seasons, there is still faith, purpose, gratitude, and joy,” she said.
