Tyler Calabresi
Allston/Brighton
Tyler volunteers at ABCD's Allston Brighton Neighborhood Opportunity Center (ABNOC), where he packs food bags, schedules appointments, logs pickups and deliveries, verifies client eligibility, and stocks the food pantry. This summer, he also taught classes at Youth Engaged in Action (YEA!), ABCD’s summer program for introducing 13-year-olds to civic engagement.
Tyler learned about ABCD at a job fair at the Cambridge Public Library. Interested in social work and public health, he chose ABNOC because of the vital service it provides in Allston, where he moved in the fall of 2025. Giving back to his new neighborhood brings him deep satisfaction, and the routine and sense of purpose have supported his well-being as he navigates life post-college.
His most meaningful moments came from the bright young teenagers in the youth program, his co-instructor, and the clients and coworkers he encountered in the pantry. "Everyone I met was so kind, friendly, and down-to-earth,” he says.
Outside ABCD, Tyler volunteers weekends at the art therapy and community wellness center in Waltham. He enjoys walking, biking, running, trading card games, movies, trying new foods, and spending time with friends and family.
